Our Story

Husband & Wife Team; Amanda and Chris Goyer

After leaving our corporate jobs to focus on something more meaningful to us as a family, we decided to take the risk and dive fully into entrepreneurship. After several iterations of what type of business would operate within our building, Lake Bound Bookstore was born.

Our goal is to create a community space where people can enjoy stories, share space and connect. The namesake came from our local geography surrounding the bookstore in Sand Lake that consists of many local lakes, in addition, “the lake” has always been and always will be a special place for our family. Lake George is where we both visited in our childhood with our families, and today it is where we bring our boys.

The feeling of reading a book by the lake when you are on vacation is a feeling we want to convey within our peaceful space meant to inspire and create memories. 

Our family is at the heart of every decision we make and will continue to make as we build this dream. Our boys Roen and Noah will play a role in helping us choose books, and drive our work ethic to be the best role models we can be for them. Building on our experience from our business next door at Sand Lake Merchant, we are expanding our footprint in our corner of Averill Park, which is also the place we call home.
 
As owners and partners, we both come to the table with unique perspectives and different backgrounds that will hopefully enable our guests to get the best of both worlds. Chris has a passion for art, music and audiobooks, while Amanda is driven by the nostalgia of picking up a tangible book and binge reading between the bookends.
